Just recieved a new MF 1240 with loader and ag tires. I looked at orange, blue and green but went with red. The machine is a little cheaper in direct comparison with other models. I had experience with green farm equipment and was pleased, but the compacts appear to have too much plastic/resin components and that goes for the other also. I also went red because the machine has been around for nearly a decade with only upgrade improvements. The blue ones had some growing pains as I understand and the green ones are very new. I leased a JD 6400 at our farm and had it back at the shop several times. Since then JD has come out with the 6410 series. Sort of like new car models it takes a few production years to get the bugs out. No experience with a orange machine but the MF dealer keep pushing a good looking LS3010 (also a Kubota dealer) and avoided talking about the MF compact tractors. He did'nt care if he sold a MF or not. Excuss the long wind, but look at a Massey Fergusen unit to complete your purchase survey.

Amen to everything, Steve. I was down at the Massey dealer early this monthand I was impressed all over again. Hope that they stay with the massive castingsand real metal instead of following JD over to so much plastic. I think thatthe advantage that the Massey has is just as you say: their technology is wellworked out. Its either "outdated" or "mature" It all depends on how youlook at age I guess. :-) So tell me this: Even when I know that the Masseys are just as goodor maybe even better..... but its always that green machine that I see in mymind's eye when someone says "nice tractor! You guys are right about keeping an open mind when shopping for tractors. However, there is at least one concern when buying a Massey: Resale and product support. Are Massey parts higher than Deere parts or Kubota parts? Labor Rates? Dont get me wrong, I'm not saying this is the case for Massey, I just think some people dont look far enough ahead when buying a tractor! ....

The new compact Massseys are supposed to be made by Iseki now. Iseki is a good tractor and often overlooked.-- Paul ....
